Crafts that built the Cathedral: Stone carving workshop

Saturday 3 May, 31 May and 16 August, 10am

Join award-winning stone carver Deb Harrison in the Cathedral's Medieval Learning Hub for a hands-on stone carving workshop. Over four hours, you'll design and carve a relief tile, using techniques that built the Cathedral 1,000 years ago—no experience needed!

What to Expect:
- Health and safety introduction
- About the stone
- Learning to use the Stonemasons tools
- Create or bring your own stencil design (20x 20cm), or be inspired by stencils reflecting the cathedral's themes & symbols.
- Transfer using carbon paper onto the stone
- Outline, rough out, refine, finish
- Take your piece home—or feature it in our summer exhibition which will highlight the heritage skills and community-created artwork. If you choose to have your work displayed, it will be returned by post after the exhibition.
